It is under the jurisdiction of 25 counties and cities.* It has an area of 36000 km2, 25.8% of the total land area of Anhui province, and a population of 8.562 million, 16.9% of the total population of the province. South Anhui is a unique geographical unit in the Chinese subtropical mountainous regions. It can serve as a model for the territorial exploitation and regional management.
