Abstract

This paper discusses agrarian properties of coloniae and municipia of the Roman world outside of the pertica of the cities. Some literary, epigraphic and juridical sources, here analysed, refers to agri ex alienis territoriis sumpti of Italian cities. However these lands are not only outside of the territory of a city itself, but even in a province. This paper aims to define the juridical nature of this kind of property. It focuses specifically on the administration of these lands and the revenue produced for cities owning and exploiting them.
