Abstract

Abstract Complexes of the type MIIUO2X4 (MII = Mg, Ba, Co, Zn; X = CH3COO, CF3COO) have been prepared either by reacting the respective metal acetate with dioxouranium(VI) acetate or the metal nitrate with dioxouranium(VI) nitrate in acetic anhydride. The trifluoroacetate derivatives were prepared by acid exchange. X-ray diffraction studies indicate that these ternary compounds are definite entities. The IR data support the bridging bidentate nature of the carboxylic groups. 19F NMR of the Mg, Ba and Zn derivatives show a single peak. The μeff values of the cobalt compounds are anomalous. A mechanism of the thermal decomposition of the complexes is proposed.
