Abstract

Terminal characteristics of composite conductors, when temperature varies over the conductor length, show a greater diversity of factors affecting thermal stability of the conductor than isothermal characteristics. Analysing the experimental volt-ampere curves obtained, the authors discuss the effect of various mechanisms which frequently bring about noticeable deviations from the theoretical ‘idealized’ characteristics. Part 1 of this paper appeared in Volume 12, No 5, p 377.
