Abstract
(Br J Anaesth. 2019;122(1):79–85. Doi: 10.1016/j.bja.2018.07.025) Current studies suggest that gastric emptying time is not prolonged in pregnancy. However, these data come from small samples. Pulmonary aspiration of gastric contents during obstetric anesthesia remains a concern. In the present study, authors assessed the range of gastric fluid volume in fasted nonlaboring term pregnant patients and fasted nonpregnant female patients scheduled for surgery.
