Abstract

The generation of high power terahertz radiation has been studied by the interaction of density modulated relativistic electron beam (REB) with the plasma pump wave. The REB is pre bunched by the two laser beams which later translate to density modulation on passing through the drift space. The modulated beam enters the plasma medium and excites the electron plasma wave which leads to the oscillatory velocity of the electron beam. This transverse velocity couples with the modulated beam density and gives rise to nonlinear current density that leads to the emission of radiation of the order of terahertz. In results, the power of the radiation is evaluated and analysed. The power varies as square of the electron beam radius and field of the pump wave. The radiation thus obtained has numerous scopes in various fields.
