Abstract

In this work, we propose and describe an electrodynamical method of improving the selectivity of open cavities of terahertz gyrotrons operating at high cyclotron harmonics. This approach based on the use of irregularities, which are deformation of the cavity wall. The use of such complicated azimuthally asymmetric cavities when using irregularities of variable length also opens up the possibility of providing quasi-continuous frequency tuning, and also makes it possible to selectively operate on symmetric $\mathrm{TE}_{0,p}$ modes.
