Abstract

We report an experimental study of the electrical properties of nickel cobalt ferrites (NiCo) in the terahertz (THz) frequency band. The study is motivated by the potential of NiCo and other magnetic ceramics for the fabrication of active and passive devices for THz wave communications. The optical constants, dielectric function and loss tangent of NiCo with various Ni/Co ratios have been measured in the technologically relevant 0.2 THz to 1 THz frequency band. Our experimental results provide evidence that microwave ferrite technology can be extended to the THz frequency band.
