Abstract

In this article we use Paulo Freire's critical theory, to view mathematics education as a possibility of formation of the subject, in other words, whose center of education is the person. For this, we seek articulate some philosophical and epistemological assumptions Heidegger's phenomenology and existentialism of Kierkegaard do with the educational theory of Paulo Freire, so that we can place the centrality of the student in mathematics education horizon. Following a phenomenological qualitative look, we bring a joint that is shown as the basis for understanding the humane education, focused on being (the student); this allows us to look at mathematics by importance the importance for the understanding of the world and the human formation, thus situating the mathematics education in this context.
