Abstract
The paper deals with the Jan Hus' theological Commentary on Sentences by Peter Lombardus concerning the theology of creation, i.e. the creation of visible world, animals and humans before original sin. It is demonstrated that the content of this commentary does not deviate from the standard Catholic theology of that time and follows the theologically relevant questions, while leaving aside those merely speculative ones. The work of creation is conceived as a result of the action of the entire Trinity, i.e. the Father acting through his Word (the Son) in the Holy Spirit.

Summary
Vychází se přitom z textu Písma, kde je řečeno: „Na počátku stvořil Bůh nebe a zemi (Gn 1,1).“ Nebem se rozumí svět andělů, zemí náš viditelný svět. Země, vody, vzduchu a ohně, které jsou v prvním okamžiku stvoření spolu promíseny v beztvaré první látce a teprve v dalším průběhu stvoření (v jednotlivých stvořitelských dnech) nabývají zvláštních tvarů. Přitom první látka je stvořena „z ničeho“, což znamená, že Bůh dává při stvoření této první látce vznik, a nepotřebuje tedy k svému dílu žádnou dříve existující látku. Náš autor uzavírá svůj komentář k této distinkci tvrzením, že „látka první ve vytvořování věcí tělesných byla vytvořena jedině prvním působitelem“ To jest patrno – byla vytvořena, protože stvořena z ničeho, a ne přírodou, která předpokládá něco, z čeho by vytvořovala, ani uměním, které předpokládá něco, v čem by utvořilo nějakou formu...[9]
