Abstract
A Infrared and Raman spectra are reported for N,N-dimethylselenoformamide (DMSF), DMSF- d 6 and DMSF- d 7. The i.r. observations extend from 4000 to 200 cm −1. The Raman data include polarization measurements in the liquid phase. Values are given for all but the two lowest fundamentals of species a″, which are expected to fall below the infrared region investigated. The assignments have been aided by comparison with the frequencies calculated from a normal coordinate analysis using a 35-parameter generalized valence force field. A description of the normal modes of DMSF, DMSF- d 6 and DMSF- d 7 is given.
