Abstract

The tensor analysing powers of (d, 3He) reactions of 19F, 45Sc and 63Cu have been measured at 12.4 MeV incident deuteron energy. The results were compared with predictions of DWBA theory where the amount of D‐state component in the 3He wave function, represented by the parameter D2, was varied. The best‐fit value of D2=−0.21 fm2 obtained is consistent with the corresponding value for the triton and is in a good agreement with recent theoretical estimates of the D‐state of the tri‐nucleon system based on calculations of the relative motion of the N+d clusters using realistic wave functions and on a solution of Faddeev equations with the Reid soft‐core potential.
