Abstract

SummaryThe tension of oxygen in the brain, liver, spleen, muscles and sub-cutaneous connective tissue of mice was studied during irradiation at a dose-rate of 200 r/min and upon administration of thiopental. At the same time, the consumption of oxygen was followed up after both procedures.During irradiation there was a decrease of oxygen-tension in the muscle and spleen of the narcotized mice, which continued after also irradiation. oxygen-consumption in mice irradiated at a rate 200 r/min decreased too. Agreement was found as to the time and trend of changes in the whole-body oxygen-consumption and tension of oxygen in tissues during irradiation.
