Abstract

The EU–US task force on research in biotechnology has seen its tenth anniversary. Initially established as a forum to exchange information between scientists in the US and Europe, it soon evolved into a network of discussion groups, seminars, training and scientific personnel exchange. The task force has brought together scientists on both sides of the Atlantic to discuss future directions in biotechnology research, and was responsible for establishing the Global Biodiversity Information Facility.
