Abstract

A three phase power system typically comprises generators, transformers, transmission lines, loads etc. under dynamic operating conditions, a power system needs to be analysed for various time responses, frequency domain analysis and stability analyses. Mechanical variables like generator rotor speed variations, rotor angle deviations, and electrical variables like current and voltage waveforms need to be checked. In present system, three type of loads are considered for single-machine infinite bus (SMIB) system. Calculations of speed deviation, rotor angle deviation, current and voltages at various instants for different values of K D are made and presented in this paper. The scenarios for source side switching, load side switching and faults are being considered. Analysis, clearly creates a need for design of a suitable controller in the control circuit of power system.
