Abstract

We have measured sensitivity to temporal change in red light in elderly patients with ARM and in normals in the same age group, and find depressed temporal function across a wide range of temporal frequencies. In patients with macular drusen and pigmentary changes but normal visual acuity, temporal function does not appear to be significantly depressed, although there is a suggestion of loss of sensitivity for medium temporal frequencies at the fovea.
