Abstract

The temporal and spectral characteristics of a distributed-feedback (DFB) semiconductor laser were investigated experimentally under electron-beam pumping conditions. The time resolution in this investigation was 50 psec. The width of the pumped region affected the emission spectrum. The periods of relaxational oscillations were determined as a function of the pump current for various degrees of feedback. Stabilization of the amplitude of the output radiation was achieved by using a DFB resonator.
