Abstract

Lead-free single crystals 0.92Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-0.08Bi(Zn0.5Ti0.5)O3 (NBT-BZT) near the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) were grown by the top seeded solution growth (TSSG) method. The temperature-induced phase transition behaviour of <001>-oriented NBT-BZT lead-free single crystals was investigated. The relationship between dielectric properties and temperature exhibited phase transition temperatures of approximately 200 °C and 328 °C. The thermal evolution of phase structure in NBT-BZT single crystals was further studied by Raman spectroscopy, and the structural phase transitions from rhombohedral (R) to monoclinic (M) phases, then from monoclinic to tetragonal (T) phases were confirmed by optical domain structure observation. These results are beneficial for understanding the nature of ferroelectric phase transitions.
