Abstract

The elastic moduli of tin, bismuth and tin-bismuth alloys of three different chemical compositions (Bi/Bi+Sn)=57.0, 63.5 and 66.7 weight %) were measured by ultrasonic transmission in the temperature range from room temperature to 139°C, which is the eutectic temperature of tin-bismuth alloy. From measured elastic data, the elastic properties of aggregate on metal alloy are reported, and are discussed on the basis of the Hashin-Shtrikman theory.
