Abstract
Colonic temperatures of rats were recorded for periods of 3.5–5 hr after tube feeding at three ambient temperatures. At a neutral temperature (24 C) fall in body temperature was inversely related to calories intubated. In heat (32 C and 38 C) there was a direct relationship between calories intubated and body temperature. At 38 C mortality rate was a direct function of calories.
