Abstract

The authors investigate the influence of gamma photons in doses in excess of 10/sup 8/ R upon the thermoluminescence spectrum of quartz, and they study the irradiation of the crystals with high integral doses of electrons and protons. The results of the investigations of the thermoluminescence spectra of crystalline quartz are illustrated. The measurements have shown that energy is stored in the irradiated samples at impurity-type defects (A1/sup 3 +/, Li/sup +/, Li, and Na) as well as at defects formed by the radiation at oxygen vacancies.
