Abstract

AbstractIn this work, we investigate the influence of the temperature imposed to a system initially composed of a free polaron moving through a trans‐polyacetylene chain. Our approach uses a version of the Su, Schrerieffer, and Heeger model where we included temperature effects on the lattice in a phenomenological way. We observed that greater temperatures lead nonlinear structure such as the polaron to become instable and disappear. Therefore, temperature is an important factor when it comes to describe the life time of these structures. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2008
