Abstract
One of the important applications of ultrasound hyperthermia is the temperature elevation at specified locations in the human brain. The ultrasound applicator used is the circular phased array surrounding the human head. The human head model is assumed to be two concentric spheres of skin and bone contains a semi-sphere of brain. The single and multiple foci patterns of the ultrasound intensity generated by the circular phased array is investigated. The heating patterns, temperature distributions, corresponding to the absorption of ultrasound in the brain region is determined by solving the bioheat equation.
