Abstract

Based on the heat-exchange characteristics during the explosive welding process, a thermodynamically coupled mathematical model is presented to calculate the temperature distribution across the explosive welding interface according to the thermal conduction equation. A case of two iron plates is also given to study the heat exchange process of explosive welding. The relationship between the maximal rising temperature and the spatial coordinate is also discussed. The calculated results are in good agreement with the explosive welding process. The model can supply some theoretical foundations for calculating the temperature distribution and optimizing the explosive welding parameters to some extent.
