Abstract

The results of a study on the temperature dependence of the Rayleigh wing scattering in liquid acetonitrile are presented. It was found that the relaxation times increase with rising temperature, a result which is in contradiction to the internal viscosity picture, which has been used to explain the high frequency wing scattering. However, a calculation utilizing a simple cell model of liquids produces results that are in reasonable agreement with experiment.
