Abstract

In this study, the shear failure modes of composites, including shear failure of interphase and polymer matrix, at different temperatures were analyzed firstly. Then on the basics of the shear failure modes, a temperature-dependent tensile strength model considering the effect of interphase thickness for CNT/polymer nanocomposites was proposed. The model predictions agree well with the available experimental data. This paper offers a feasible and convenient method to predict the temperature-dependent tensile strength of CNT/polymer nanocomposites. Besides, the influencing factor analysis for CNT/polymer nanocomposites was systematically conducted. Some helpful insights for the design and fabrication of CNT/polymer nanocomposites were provided.
