Abstract

The efficiency and time response of a Ce-doped BaTiO 3 crystal as a self-pumped phase conjugator were investigated at 514.5 nm at elevated temperature. It was found that its efficiency varies and its time response is improved at elevated temperature. Two-beam coupling experiments showed that both two-beam coupling gain coefficient Λ and speed of response of the crystal can be enhanced by several times when the temperature is elevated to 90°C. In addition, the temperature dependence of Λ and also that of the absorption coefficient are linear.
