Abstract

The phase shift approach to the problem of dilute alloys is compared with the sd model, an expression for J rho and estimations for TK are derived. It is shown that a phenomenological approach to the Kondo problem in terms of temperature dependent phase shifts delta (T) (i.e. in terms of a temperature dependent renormalized (J rho )eff) which receives good experimental support is consistent with sophisticated developments of the sd model; an expression for delta (T) is obtained from which expressions for the resistance, the susceptibility, the polarizations and the Korringa relaxation are derived.
