Abstract

The temperature dependence of the atomic dynamics of the new metallic glass ZrCuAl has been investigated by neutron inelastic scattering at the ILL in Grenoble. Within experimental accuracy no indication for anharmonicity could be detected via the generalized vibrational density of states (GVDOS) at frequencies above 200 GHz. Part of it could be hidden by the very pronounced structural relaxation of strong density fluctuations quenched into this (bulk) metallic glass by the melt spinning process.
