Abstract
The samples of europium ions doped titanium dioxide(Eu3+/TiO2) nanocrystals are synthesized by a modifiedsol-gel method with hydrothermal treatment. The x-ray diffraction andscanning electron microscopy are used to characterize the sample. Thetemperature-dependent fluorescence emission effect of Eu3+-dopedsamples is investigated. It is found that under the excitation of514.5 nm light, the emission intensity of Eu3+ reaches a maximumvalue at 450 K among various Eu3+ dopant concentrations inEu3+/TiO2 nanocrystals. The variation of the emissionintensity may be attributed to the photon-assist absorption and thetemperature-quenching effect.
