Abstract

The temperature dependence of the Faraday rotation (FR) spectra is measured for a single-crystalline (Y 3+,Ca 2+) 3(Fe 3+,Rh 4+) 5O 12 film grown by an LPE method onto GGG substrates at temperatures between 60 and 300 K in the wavelenght range of 0.7–1.6 μm. In addition, the FR spectra at some temperatures are calculated by a molecular-field approximation, and the calculated spectra are reproduced well by assuming the molecular field 155〈 S Z Fe〉 (cm −1), where 〈 S Z Fe〉 is a thermal average of an iron spin S Z Fe in magnetic garnets.
