Abstract

Abstract Layer bending rigidities were measured for an AOT–water–iso-octane microemulsion with two methods: electric deformation and temperature dependent fluctuation mode analysis. The values of rigidity obtained, while being of the expected order of magnitude for the electric deformation method, are lower when computed with the fluctuation mode analysis. The dependence of the rigidity values on the methods of calculation seems to suggest that the mathematical approach based on static method is more reliable than the dynamical one.
