Abstract

Elastic and inelastic moduli of the superconducting yttrium-barium oxide ceramics YBa2Cu3O7−δ (YBCO) were studied using the ultrasonic resonance technique. In the range from room temperature up to the temperature of the ortho-tetra phase transition, the elastic and inelastic moduli of YBCO samples exhibit a number of anomalies. It is shown that these features are related to the behavior of active oxygen in the ceramics, the phase inhomogeneity of the material, and the phase transitions.
