Abstract

We fabricate suspended Ge cross-shaped microstructures to biaxially enhance the residual tensile strain induced by a difference of thermal expansion coefficients. The strain and optical properties are characterized by means of micro-Raman spectroscopy and micro-photoluminescence. A maximum biaxial strain of 1.05% is obtained by cooling the sample to a temperature of 100 K.
