Abstract

AbstractAn expression for the temperature dependence of the baric magnetization coefficient (1/σs) × (∂σs/∂p)T is obtained in the framework of Wohlfarth's model for a very weak band ferromagnetism. Good agreement is obtained between calculated and experimental values for nickel and iron‐nickel alloys of invar composition. The derivative of the effective exchange interaction parameter with respect to pressure, dI/dp, is estimated for nickel and iron‐nickel invar Fe0.66Ni0.34. It is shown that anomalously high values of the quantity dI/dp in a band ferromagnet are not the necessary condition to obtain great values of the quantity (1/Tc) (dTc/dp) specific for invars.
