Abstract

We analyze theoretically, the effect of temperature dependence on dielectric permittivity of nanocomposite of silver nanoparticle embedded in SiO2. The dielectric permittivity is calculated in accordance with the temperature-dependent plasma frequency of silver nanoparticle. We investigate this effect by changing the radii of spherical nanoparticle and the filling factor by incorporating the temperature-dependent volume expansion coefficient of nanoparticle. The width of the frequency range, in which the real part of the dielectric permittivity becomes negative, is studied. The variation of dielectric permittivity with frequency is also studied. The temperature-dependent plasma frequency is implemented in multilayer structures for tuning their optical properties, which is used for designing optical filters, sensors etc.
