Abstract

AbstractThe electronic properties of a KNO3 crystal near the structural phase transition are investigated by observing ultraviolet absorption spectra. The spectra show an anomalous temperature dependence near the transition point Ttr. The anomalous behaviour of the exponential absorption tails in the spectra is observed and discussed phenomenologically in relation to anomalies in the dielectric constant and lattice constant of KNO3.
