Abstract

Temperature and load have coupling effect on FWD deflection basin and stress/strain response of asphalt pavement. To get comparable results, and analyze the influence of load on FWD deflection basin and stress/strain response of asphalt pavement in RIOHTRACK, the measured deflection basin and stress/strain response need to be corrected to a reference temperature. Boltzmann function with double limit feature is used as the basic model of temperature correction of FWD deflection basin and stress/strain response. The temperature sensitive range and values of limit high temperature and limit low temperature of these two kinds of indexes can be determined by the model. The temperature correction models of the FWD deflection basin of different section are established using the FWD deflection basin data of the non-loading lane of the RIOHTRACK for 3 years, and validated using the FWD deflection basin data of the responding section of the loading lane. The temperature correction models of the stress/strain response are established using the stress/strain response and the corresponding temperature data of each section at the initial loading stage of the RIOHTRACK. By means of temperature correction, the evolution law of deflection and stress/strain response of each section of the RIOHTRACK can be obtained with the change of the cumulative load. The temperature correction model proposed in this study will provide an effective technical means for further study of the evolution of FWD deflection basin and stress/strain response of each test section of the RIOHTRACK in the full life circle.
