Abstract

The control of reaction pathways is a key milestone in the emerging field of on-surface synthesis. In this article, we introduce seminal studies reporting intramolecular or intermolecular sequential chemical reactions triggered by thermal annealing. In addition, we show our recent results regarding the tunability of intramolecular versus intermolecular reaction pathways within the same chemical precursors, exploiting thermal annealing as the external stimuli.
