Abstract

Solutions for temperature and thermoelastic stress fields are developed for axisymmetric heat transfer coefficient variation over the surface of a heat producing infinite half-space, in terms of a truncated series of weighted mutually orthogonal polynomials. The method is applied to a number of heat transfer distributions, the results are compared with known solutions and conclusions are drawn as to the accuracy and applicability of the method.
