Abstract

The influence of the variations in the oscillation frequency with temperature on the calibration constant of an automatic internal friction pendulum is discussed. A method to obtain the intrinsic damping and modulus defect, as a function of temperature, from data obtained either in torsion or in flexure is suggested. The method does not involve measurements of the damping against the applied strain for different temperatures.
