Abstract

The two-compartment diffusion cell reported by Stokes was modified for operation at temperatures higher than the ambient temperature. Experimental diffusion coefficients were obtained for concentrations of 0.05, 0.25, 0.50, 0.70, and 0.96 mole fraction of benzene in nheptane at 25, 45, 65, 75', and 85°C. Diffusion coefficients at normal boiling points of these mixtures were obtained by extrapolation and interpolation. Also, the diffusion coefficients at infinite dilution for benzene and n-heptane were obtained by extrapolation at all the temperatures of the experiment.
