Abstract

ABSTRACTPt colloidal particles with large surface areas are effective electrocatalysts which can be applied in methanol fuel cells. The efficiency of the Pt catalyst can be greatly increased if it is incorporated with a second component such as Ru. By applying TEM, EDXS and XRD, the chemical composition, particle size and crystallinity of Pt and Pt/Ru colloidal particles during synthesis procedure are investigated in this research.
