Abstract

The reaction of telomerization of ethylene with carbon tetrachloride or chloroform is initiated by hexacarbonyls of chromium, molybdenum, and tungsten at 115–120‡, forming α,α,α,Ω-tetrachloroalkanes and α,α,α-trichloroalkanes. respectively.
