courteous but reluctant to accept subjective opinions, and they suggested that the committee explore the uses being made of television by the schools in the area. Accepting this challenge, the advisory unit solicited the help of other interested civic groups. Final membership on the committee was composed of representatives from women's clubs, parentteacher organizations, the Board of Education, the University staff, social workers, and the Association for Childhood Education. The committee prepared a survey sheet, comprehensive in scope, simple to use, and with space for personal comments. In November, 1952, copies of the survey were distributed to 1,050 teachers in Onondaga County in grades ranging from kindergarten through high school. Seventy-eight per cent of the forms were returned, with 80,666 responses to individual items. A total of 457 elementaryschool teachers, 282 high-school teachers, and 78 principals and supervisors co-operated.
