Abstract
Perhaps the most significant change in the production of animation was the final arrival of television into Australia in 1956. A sudden flurry of animation activity occurred at this time, a number of studios springing up to fulfil the demand for animated series, animated specials, and animated television commercials. These included Fanfare films (in Melbourne), and Australia’s two major radio production studios, Air Programs International (API) and Artransa, who made a remarkably seamless transition from radio productions to animation productions.
