Abstract

This article concerns the use, and lack of use, of telephone and mail survey methods by anthropologists. My credentials are based on four years of involvement with the University of Kentucky Survey Research Center. At the Survey Research Center, I have had major responsibilities for six telephone surveys and three mail surveys, as well as participating in other Center activities such as proposal development and consulting on other survey projects. I have also freelanced as a survey consultant to both public and private organizations.
