Abstract

Telemedicine is a rapidly emerging health care delivery technique that uses computer technology connected with various medical diagnostic instrumentation to send health care information to others by way of telecommunication lines, satellites, and other connectivity technologies. This information then may be used to render a diagnosis, deliver a medical consultation, monitor a condition, or educate (among other uses). Applications have been developed in practically all specialties of medicine and surgery. These telemedical applications can be conducted in three types of environments.
