Abstract

An experimental telefacsimile network of four nodes is described. Slow-speed equipment at four branches of the Smithsonian Institution Libraries was used to transmit journal articles to speed delivery. The study concludes that telefacsimile can be justified for its capability to meet urgent needs but that these are infrequent. Good planning and monitoring are essential.
