Abstract

A 2002 survey of knowledge about music-induced hearing loss (via www.mtv.com) revealed that, although nearly half of the respondents admitted symptoms such as tinnitus or hearing loss after loud music exposure, only a minority were aware of the risk to their hearing. A follow-up study was performed by the same group in 2007, and, although most respondents indicated that they would adopt protective precautions if made aware of the risk, most were still unaware of the risks of hearing loss following loud music exposure.
